July 4th should serve as a reminder never to fall prey to hopelessness and defeatism.

When the founders signed the Declaration of Independence, they put their lives on the line. They never backed down during the war, even when things looked completely hopeless. They kept on fighting until tyranny was defeated.

Our Democracy is stronger than many people think it is. Today, we are facing tyranny once again and it will be defeated once again.

So when you hear people on the news say they fear we are going to lose our democracy, nothing is being done. Say Fuck Off and change the channel.

The founders were greedy slavers who broke away so they could make more money. This country’s only bedrock principle, other than violence and racism, is greed.

celebrated by all. It is a significant milestone. But it also reminds me of the obligations we all have to ensure that others, having nefarious purposes in mind, are attempting to undermine the rights and freedoms so enshrined in our Constitution and Amendments.

Those others who have nefarious purposes in mind are seeking more power (or limiting power formerly given out previously).

The biggest one I fear is taking away our right to vote, and/or giving state legislators the right to overrule our votes should a particular candidate win (or lose, the state decides who loses, who wins instead).
