Oh, I seethis is just going to be how it is from here on out, said New York City resident Brian Marcello, coming to terms with the fact that an immense storm that cripples mass transit systems and knocks out power for millions in the nations largest metropolitan area can no longer be regarded as an isolated, freak incident, and will henceforth be just a normal thing that happens. Hugely destructive weather events are going to keep happening, and they are going to get worse and worse, and living through them is something that will be a part of all our lives from now on, whether we like it or not.
I get it now, Marcello added.

(14,049 posts)kick the damn thing out of orbit and you don't have to worry about the extra boost to storm surges during high tide.
There might be some side effects, but if it means keeping gas under $4/gallon for another year or two, we'll try anything.

(19,288 posts)Pretty obscure. We seem so Hell bent on punishing and retaliation for being wronged. We punished all the little Afghanistan farmers we could catch and all the Iraqi school kids we could bomb for 9/11. We destroyed the constitution because they hated our "freedoms".
We funnel 60% of our tax dollars to the Pentagon to perpetuate fear and war.
How will we punish Mother Nature for global warming, flooding and high winds if the death toll equals the twin towers.
You would think we would start to take it seriously and devote the some of the resources we have to war on terror, to the war on natural disasters
