(1,962 posts)They don't care. Already have had a few large fires over the last few weeks. And of course they couldn't care less that each and every one they set off runs the risk of igniting another.
But, hey... Tomorrow you're homeless, tonight it's a blast!!!

(1,962 posts)Started just before dark... Got progressive worse starting around 10:30 and got louder for a few hours after that, going from sporadic to pretty much nonstop. More than a few window-rattlers in all of that. And I could hear some of the people nearly a block away yelling and howling and carrying on like maniacs.
Because, as always, everyone sure has plenty of money for booze, drugs and fireworks come the 4th. And so it falls on a Monday, meaning people have to work the next day? Fuck them and fuck their sleep.
Many of them don't even bothered with the flashy pretty colors. After all, it's all about those sweet, sweet BOOMS. M80's, M100's, hell, just firing your guns into the air... So long as everyone can hear you. 12 am? 2 pm on the 5th? Can't have quiet - you might hear yourself think!
This day has grown to become an unpleasant experience, I'm sorry to say.

(82,849 posts)The fireworks started in my felony flats neighborhood before sundown and kept going for HOURS until 1-2 a.m. It as constant, coming from different quarters at different times, but there was no lull or let-up. I can't say I've ever bought fireworks, but to my inexperienced eye, they're awfully expensive. The ordnance I was hearing had to cost thousands of dollars to keep it up as long as they did, and mine is not an affluent neighborhood.
It'll keep going this week, and maybe be over after this weekend, but damn! Who has money to literally set on fire?
