The abortion ruling has troops and veterans speaking out, some for the first time

https://www.npr.org/2022/07/04/1109618252/military-veterans-abortion-roe-v-wade

For the first time in her life, Marine Corps Capt. Meleah Martin is refusing to wear American flag attire this Independence Day. Instead, she told her family that she will only wear pride colors and apparel. Not because she's unpatriotic – she's spent approximately 16 months deployed overseas as an F-18 pilot. But because she believes her constitutional rights are under attack.

Martin said it's been disheartening to witness liberties such as the right to protest or to cast a ballot come under attack in recent years. Those frustrations turned to devastation for her with the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, stripping away the constitutional right to an abortion. Martin hopes to someday start a family, but as someone who identifies as a lesbian, she's scared her right to marry and have children may also be in danger.

As a result of these fears and frustrations, she said she doesn't look at the American flag the way she used to.

"We swear an oath, 'To support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic' ... Well, it's time to start worrying about the domestic, because clearly we have more of a problem here than we do anywhere else," Martin said, noting that her views are her own, and not a reflection of her unit or the Marine Corps. "It's really disappointing when something like this happens, because, like, how do I defend that?"

And she's not alone.

FUCK her lying fake-ass “struggle”. Patriots DEFEND citizens’ rights - NOT call a traitorous attack on those rights “our struggle”.

“Our struggle” is SHAMEFUL and ANTI-AMERICAN hate speech.

On edit: CG officials need to get that woman off-duty and give her a thorough psychiatric workup, as she is clearly suicidal and unbalanced and should be nowhere near national defense:

She's also against the argument that abortion should be legal in instances where the mother may be forced to choose between her life and that of the unborn child.

"If I were put in ... that situation or scenario, I would proudly give up my life for that [of] my child," Ketcham said.

Suicidal, selfish, violent, depraved, and demented. Her “struggle” is to KILL INNOCENT WOMEN.

If a person was forced to have a procedure that SHE would not have if given a choice; and If after examination health care professionals state that harm could come to the woman’s life and the life of her baby, would murder charges be appropriate if she and her baby died during the unwanted but forced procedure (childbirth.). I’m thinking of defendants Alito, Thomas etc.

The election was not stolen, the Supreme Court was.

Actually, I’m back. I posted as Bosshog years ago, took a 12 year sabbatical, and here I am again. Forgot my old password so started over with a “new” identity. I have to admire conservatives because it takes so much more energy doing what they have been doing for 40 plus years rather then doing what is right. It is an incredible telling sign that their collective ignorance manifests itself in their collective arrogance.

We lived in Slidell for many years, many years ago. Probably the best time of our lives. Loved the geography, food, music, culture, coonasses, you know. Politics in LA was a never ending tragicomedy. Conservatives never consider unintended consequences. The Navy and Marine Corps has pumped billions into and around New Orleans for decades. So yeah, let the Bible thumpers piss ‘‘em off. Geaux all the wonderful women in our armed forces.

We're planning to move. Too much "tragicomedy" for us.
