It's frightening that some of the criminal allies of Trump may have received secret pardons.
Also, regarding the talk of Trump appealing a possible guilty verdict for his crimes, here is why it is so important that Biden extend the SCOTUS. Please watch this:

(9,810 posts)Whoever can plead the 5th, does so. (that would include Clark, Flynn and Eastman ... ) and DOES NOT have a pardon.
Whoever is not pleading the 5th has a pardon, because a pardon prevents them from pleading the 5th.
Rudy may or may not, but takes the fifth repeatedly.

(9,481 posts)How do you verify it was given when TFG had the power to do. If there isn't a document trail going back to before TFG left office, it means shit IMO.

(4,913 posts)Secret pardons are like aliens. No proof they exist.

(21,756 posts)Its part of the DOJ. Secret pardons are not really a thing. A pardon does not have to be announced but DOJ would know.

(9,864 posts)...because otherwise, any of us could forge trump's signature on a piece of toilet paper and said he pardoned us.
why would Glenn Kirschner create this scary scenario in the first place?
Ohio Joe
(21,756 posts)He has been saying some weird stuff lately. I watched one of his videos earlier today and he was saying Clarke committed treason That is just wrong. Treason is a specific crime and nothing tfg or any of his cohorts did is treason. He knows this so I dont know why he is going for the big dramatic claims.

(9,864 posts)...but i consider BTC to be really reliable and rational...that's the only reason i was worried about this.

(9,481 posts)Wonder if the 1/6 committee looked at that. It's possible they may have and there was nothing there.

(9,864 posts)If trump dies can i claim he pardoned me verbally, and because he's not around to deny it, that means it's valid?
Ohio Joe
(21,756 posts)Yes, it is true that the main function is to vet applications but they also issue the certificates of pardon that prove a pardon was done while a given President was in office. They have to know.

(9,864 posts)seems that should be info we can get with a FOIA request
Ohio Joe
(21,756 posts)I know there are some things that FOIA can't get... Like trade secrets, classified material... Things like that but I would think this would qualify as able to be released. It would just need someone to do it.

(3,647 posts)The recipient cannot claim 5th amendment privileges if questioned about possible offenses related to the pardon.
So a pardon is not necessarily a free ride. He must testify truthfully under oath about the possible offenses even if it implicates others who may be unsavory characters.

(24,300 posts)is to do this, Trump would actually have to give a shit about anybody else, which he doesn't.
As to anyone he actually did give pardons to, I guarantee you there was something in it for him.

(94,585 posts)Don't start with "we know he would"; start with "how could he"?
If Trump produced a secret pardon, how would he prove it was signed when he was still President? Someone in a senior position would need to know it happened, and we would have heard about it by now.

There don't seem to be many solid rules governing pardons.

(32,641 posts)They need to prove that Chump actually wrote it. How are they going to prove it was written and signed before Chump left the White House when his term was up? There was a deadline for all presidential pardons, just like when the clock struck midnight and the Princess turned back into Cinderella. On Jan 21st, it was too late - no more pardons for Chump's buddies.
I'd think the courts are going to be very hesitant to take their word that it's valid. The pardons that are already filed with DoJ, those are the ones we know about and they are valid.
