Justice Horn, a former NCAA wrestler turned Kansas City politician, was devastated to learn his banners had been targeted by vandals who sprayed the F slur across his photo.
Horn is running for a seat on the Jackson County Legislature, and said he is determined to continue with his head high.
He said that he learned that my campaign banner was defaced with a homophobic slur in a tweet on Monday (July 4).
Ill admit, this one hurt because like so many of us who experience this, this word is used to harm us, he said.
Either way, Im not going to back down and Im holding my head high.

(3,557 posts)It took a lot of years of growing up for me to realize that it was wrong of me to hate anyone because of their sexuality or gender identity.
Im not at all saying that it was alright, but I grew up in a conservative household in the 80s and 90s. It wasnt until I left my childhood home and became my own person that I realized how wrong I was.
becoming a father really changed everything for me. I so absolutely loved my newborn daughter and I realized that nothing could change that - least of which being who she was attracted to or loved romantically.
Anyways, were all someones special child. Nothing would infuriate me more than seeing my children bullied for any reason. In the same way that I wont stand for the mistreatment of my own children, I wont stand for the mistreatment of another persons child.
I hope this man continues to stay strong.
