2. They've already done it

They make a point of saying that the US is not a democracy but instead a republic. Then they pass laws allowing legislatures to overturn the popular vote, as well as all the laws intended to keep people from voting. They gave up on democracy some time ago.

We are a democratic republic. That is the way this country was set up from the beginning.

We call it a democracy for short because most of us are invested in the concept that the citizens are sovereign. We all understand what "democracy" means.

Those who say "we aren't a democracy" do so because they are not invested in that concept. They want a form of government where a group, or groups, other than everyday citizens are sovereign. They want the citizens under the thumbs of oligarchs, authoritarian populists, theocrats or whoever.

The concept that we see as the source of liberty and the path to a rewarding life are anathema to them.

I thought about it and realized she was correct.

But it will get worse. One problem is that history doesn't give us much of a guide. The civil war is really the same war 150 years later but modern civilization is very different than in 1862.

11. Like I said earlier today

They're not in the U.S., they living already in the Confederate States of America. They're bringing back the old south and imposing it on all of us. If there's to be any kind of civil war now, it won't be fought like it was in the 1800s. It will be an urban war, similar to the time of troubles in Ireland and Britain. Lots of bombs and more mass shootings, maybe even some dirty bombs... all in the name of God, you understand. Very much asymmetric warfare.

I can see how they're gearing up for this already, or even thinking they're in the beginning stages of it... which may be why the SCOTUS is ruling quick and dirty like it's doing. There's a lot of dots here, and we're still stuck investigating just the first part of one. We need to speed things up without losing impact and without dropping evidence and we need to start sending some major players to court and then to jail.
