Many of these people are classically educated, a qualification which not only does not exist in America, but even if you wanted to send your child for one it would be nearly impossible unless you were extremely wealthy and connected. My British professors and teachers over the years, and I had a few, were immensely more complete from an academic standpoint than almost any American with whom I dealt. I’m not saying that all British are educated this way, far from it, but those who attend the most prestigious schools have remarkable backgrounds and compared to Americans would be considered renaissance men and women.
