(82,849 posts)When you co-sign loan papers for your offspring, or a relative, or a close friend, if that person defaults on the loan, the lender will come after you. Is there any obligation assumed by the sponsor for someone else's permit application? It certainly seems like there should be, although I'll admit that in our society a defaulted loan is a far more serious matter than shooting up a parade or a concert or a nightclub or a school.
