The officer's supervisor either did not hear him or responded too late, a new report explaining an extensive timeline says.........
In a timeline description, before the suspect even entered the building at 11:33 a.m., a Uvalde police officer responding to the scene of the crash saw Salvador Ramos carrying a rifle outside the west hall entry, according to statements in the report.
The officer, also armed with a rifle, allegedly asked his supervisor for permission to shoot the suspect.
According to the report, his supervisor either did not hear the officer or responded too late. The officer turned to get confirmation but by the time he turned back to address the suspect, Ramos had already entered the west hallway unabated.
...............
Thirty-two seconds after Ramos entered the school, he entered classroom 111.

Who writes this stuff? Should be something more like "unchallenged." Don't they have editors?
That said, the whole thing is just heartbreaking.

(1,406 posts)Effect an Arrest, if he does not comply during the confrontation then you don't need the Supervisors permission to shoot. Or were you just to scared to do your job and confront an Armed stranger. You just wanted the easy route and ambush him from a "safe" distance.

(3,504 posts)I guess the guy wasn't a scary unarmed black man.
The snide remark aside, one would think that, seeing such a clear and present danger to civilians (CHILDREN civilians), that an officer could justify taking the shot without waiting for permission.

(38,560 posts)although I didn't think "unarmed black man" but an armed black man.
If the armed man had been black, no permission would have been sought.

(8,380 posts)the worse it is. God forbid if it were my child or grandchild that was killed and I continued to hear this garbage I would be more and more out of my mind with grief and anger.

(17,863 posts)You can see how that would lead to hesitation. I mean he is fleeing an accident, but what else is he doing? Under Texas law you can carry an arsenal up to the school property line and your constitutional rights will be violated if you are challenged regarding the weapons.
Seen it earlier when the open carry advocates followed Muslims going to their mosque. That is a ok in Texas.
