Democrats in Klan Hoods? - That's a new approach

What is it with these candidates from Arizona and former NFL running backs?

A Black congressional candidate from Arizona says that the Second Amendment must be protected so that he can fight off "Democrats in Klan hoods" with an AR-15.

Jerone Davison, a former NFL running back and Republican candidate for the U.S. House, released a new campaign video on Wednesday, arguing that limiting the sale of firearms would endanger the lives of Americans who are being targeted by white supremacists.

The clip shows a group of people wearing Ku Klux Klan robes and holding baseball bats and pitchforks, charging toward a house where Davison is sitting at the kitchen table

"any publicity is good publicity" if it gets you in the news cycle. People remember your name but aren't sure why.

The Klan wouldn't be coming with pitchforks and torches...they'd be armed with AR-15's and there would be more of them!

Mr. Davison obviously thinks that the modern Klan, who are part of his base, wouldn't be smart enough to be better armed then he!

This guy is going to be in high demand. Lots of white GOP office
seekers will want to be seen sharing their stage with him.

the Civil War and is still the home of the racists. Similarly they have deluded themselves into believing the GQP is still the Party of Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.

hate groups are out there supporting every gqp candidate they can find. I remember a few years back seeing pictures from a gun show, where you had booths with people selling pictures of Obama with a Hitler mustache, and nearby there was a booth selling Nazi flags and paraphenalia. it's so surreal!

This is has been a standard tactic of Conservatives for awhile. They use the history of the Democratic Party from the Civil War to the 1930's in the North and 1960's in the South. The Democrats at the time were the more Conservative Party. The Republican Party grew out of the death of the Whig Party and ran on abolition and keeping the Union together.

In the 30's FDR took the Democratic Party from a more rural, "States Rights" party to the more national, "government should serve the people" type party. Still, there were a lot of racists in the Party, especially in the South. When Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson started to take a more open stance toward Civil Rights, the Southern Democrats revolted forming the Dixiecrat wing. When Johnson signed the Civil Rights Acts, that was it. The Dixiecrats bowed out, ran Wallace as an independent, then the Republican Party came out and scooped the Dixiecrats up and folded them into the Republican party.

A lot of White Supremacists will say, "The KKK was the Democratic Party", which is technically true, but only matters if history stopped in the 1950's and 60's. When Nixon and Reagan used the "Southern Strategy" and the "forced bussing" "welfare queens" dog whistles in the 60's, 70's, and 80's you can see the map shift from generations of Democratic voting to the solid red South we have had for the last 40 years.

They KNOW their voters are stupid, but they think that Black voters in general are stupid and don't understand the history and party switch narrative.
