Gov. Newsom announces California is set to make its own insulin.

California is set to make its own insulin.

Many Americans pay anywhere from $300 - $500 per month for insulin.

With CA’s insulin, that cost would - at a minimum - be cut in HALF.

People should not go in into debt to get life-saving medication.

Months ago I reminded everyone that "State's Rights" is NOT a dirty word... and at a time in the future we'd all be thankful for semi-autonomous States.

See: Abortion Rights and Gun laws.

He says so in the video. Let's see big pharma undercut that.

They'll try to overturn the order with legislation IMO.

9. Oddly enough, I think the Health Insurance companies might get behind this.

They have to negotiate with Pharmaceutical companies on the price and if you ask me, there is probably some serious price fixing going on.

Having a State alternative despite Pharma, could turn California into a semi-Canada/Mexico.

Then again, the Health Insurance companies could oppose it as they may think this is one step towards single payer.

Yeah, I just contradicted myself and confused everyone more.

Not confusing at all. I was wondering the same thing.

Big Pharma is one part of the health care problem. Profiteering insurance companies, hospitals, physicians' groups, labs, etc. should all be on the public radar.

It can't be that many could it? Why I applaud the efforts here, there has to be an easier way to do this right?

Largest state in the US. They'll have a market for anything with that many people.

As for the number of diabetics, roughly 3.2 million have officially been disagnosed with it. And perhaps another 800k who haven't been officially disagnosed, in line with numbers for the US as a whole.
