Democrats call for Trump-era IRS chief to resign amid audits of ex-FBI officials Comey, McCabe

Leading Democrats in Congress expressed their outrage at recent news that former FBI Director James Comey and FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, both noted antagonists of Donald Trump, were subjected to intense IRS audits during his administration.

The former FBI officials were selected for National Research Programs that affect only 5,000 taxpayers out of 153 million annually, according to the New York Times.

“If you think the audit of Donald Trump’s purported enemies was a random act of God then I have a bridge in North Jersey I’d like to sell you,” Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell, chairman of the House Ways and Means subcommittee on oversight, said in a statement Thursday.

“There may be no group on the face of this earth that deserves the benefit of the doubt less than Donald Trump and his government enablers,” he added, before calling on President Biden to fire IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, whom Trump selected for the role in 2018.

1. I'd say trot his ass up to Capitol Hill and testify under oath...

...but since he is an Executive Branch employee, Biden should just call his ass up to the White House and tell him to explain himself and what happened or tender his resignation immediately. I believe his term is up soon, so if he tenders his resignation, THEN the House should subpoena his ass and get answers.

This is exactly the reason why I think all anti-democratic Trump appointees should have been rooted out and replaced, tradition be damned. Trump broke tradition anywhere and everywhere, so fixing his fuck-ups is restoring tradition -- not breaking it.

Biden gets to name his replacement. There's little to be gained by having him leave now.

He's not the person who determines who's selected for audits anyway. That was determined by some lower level Trumphumper, trying to make brownie points with Trump. I imagine his name was immediately forgotten and was never even considered as a coffee boy in the White House. That's how Trump rolls.


I'm also fairly certain Comey and McCabe were targeted by Trump. This was no coincidence.
