We need to change our midterm messaging. We need to start arguing that the Republicans are effectively in power because we don't really have majorities and all the bad things are solely on Republicans. I think there are more negative things "affecting" Americans (even if it's only in their minds) caused by Republicans than positive things from Democrats right now. We need to flip the script.

We've lost some standing in the world because of REPUBLICAN judges overturning Roe and stripping all women of bodily autonomy.

We've got higher gas prices because REPUBLICANS voted no on measures to lower the prices.

Our streets are flooded with guns because of REPUBLICAN judges and lawmakers.

Children are in danger because REPUBLICANS refuse to pass real gun control.

Education is being attacked by REPUBLICANS passing laws to keep our children from being taught actual history.

Your Vote might not be counted because REPUBLICANS are passing laws to take the right to vote away from you.

Think of it this way... If you were asked RIGHT NOW if the country was headed in the right direction, I bet most of us would say NO. Not because of Democrats, but because of the supposedly out of power REPUBLICANS.

We need to be on the offensive clearly pointing out the harms coming solely from REPUBLICANS.
I think we lose if we spend time trying to point out the good we've done.... it makes us look defensive. And yes, I realize how fucked up that is.

Yeah, this stuff might be clear cut to us, but we're way more politically aware than your average citizen. They don't know about the voter suppression & subversion laws that are happening in and outside of their state. They're not aware of the regressive education laws happening in and outside of their state. They're not aware of the Supreme Court cases that could end democracy as we know it. It's time to fight fire with fire, and trust that democrats will do the right things if we give them the power they actually need.

They thrive on those conditions politically and economically. They, of course, *cause* those conditions, because it works so well for them.

I like your list and as you say there is a messaging problem.

IMO, the BIGGEST message that can be sent now to the country and the world is we are a country of laws and justice and we will not let well-heeled dirty damn criminals get away with shit all the rest of us would pay dearly for doing.

Holding these MOFOs accountable would give Democrats standing and clout. A win for Democrats is a win for the country.
