'It's been plenty of time.' Kentucky governor urges Biden to rescind anti-abortion GOP judge pick

USA Today via Yahoo News

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear said Thursday it's past time for the White House to withdraw the name of anti-abortion Republican Chad Meredith as a potential nominee for federal judge in Kentucky.

"It's been plenty of time," Beshear said at his press conference. "And by now, they should be telling us that it's going to be rescinded."

As first reported by The Courier Journal last week, a White House official informed Beshear's office through a June 23 email that it planned to nominate Chad Meredith to a U.S. District Court judgeship in Kentucky's Eastern District the next day.

Beshear, who said last week that a Meredith nomination would be "indefensible," renewed those same criticisms related to the pardons and commutations Thursday.

"The fact that this individual assisted former Gov. Bevin with the worst misuse or abuse of gubernatorial power — certainly in my lifetime — should be disqualifying," Beshear said. "And this is the deputy general counsel who worked on pardons that allow rapists and murderers to walk free."

Beshear's denunciations of a Meredith nomination have not mentioned the issues surrounding abortion. Other Democrats and abortion-rights advocates, however, have roundly criticized Biden’s potential nomination for Meredith's stance on abortion issues.

Gov. Beshear has been so good for KY. Bevin was a disaster, and I hope Beshear's election was not just pushback against him.

would concede anything worthwhile, like passage of voting rights, codifying Roe, taxing the billionaires/corps, single-payer health care.
Or anything else that would be worth giving them another rightwing crackpot judge.

Democratic leaders have to stop with the bipartisan bullshit. That era ended with Newt Gingrich.

I can understand President Biden's frustration of having his other judges blocked by McConnell and his pack of wolves. But . . .

This nomination makes no sense as a 'deal' of any kind. It's just so tone deaf, not the sort of thing I'd expect of Joe Biden.

Unless something else is going on behind the scenes.

Biden gets his US Attorneys and the confirmation is squashed.
and McConnell must know this....so i dont understand McConnell's play unless he knows Senima or Manchin will side him
