'Deeply hurtful': More states make it harder for LGBTQ people to foster or adopt children

Fatma Marouf and Bryn Esplin wanted a big family. The married couple, who both work as professors at Texas A&M University, knew they had love and security to give.

But when they applied to foster a refugee child under a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services program operated by the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Fort Worth, Texas, they were told they couldn’t move forward. The agency wouldn’t work with two mothers.

“They said you have to ‘mirror the Holy Family’ and I was stunned,” said Marouf. “I didn't really know what that meant."

Esplin, who grew up Mormon and always thought, the more children in the home, the merrier, was also shocked.

I assume that means a single person can't foster or adopt either? Boomerproud Jul 2022 #2

Be from the Middle East, pregnant teenaged mother, father in his thirties, on the run from authorities? That Holy Family?

Not the prospective adoptive parents ... adoptive parents will very likely not have 'conceived' ... just sayin'.

I don't support this Catholic adoption racket in any way, for the record. Churches should have nothing to do with this process, esp. not if the State is paying into it.

Just another way of punishing people who don't fit social "norms". Maybe they think everyone should be like the all-American Crimo family.

Kill Roe, now go back to terrorizing LGBTQ couples looking to adopt. How could this go wrong?

But then again, how else will we make sure all of those 7 year olds become cook/chimney-sweep/paralegal/photocopiers, like the phone call into Chatterbox in GTA III?

Ohhh... By the way, holy roller morons at Conference of Catholic Bishops? What is a "holy family"? Does that mean immaculate conception and making sure your kid is crucified at ~32?

Maybe these twits should care more about finding good homes for kids, instead of being bigots?
