NYT: Hutchinson Testimony Jolts Justice Dept to Discuss Trump's Behavior More Openly

[link:https://www.nytimes.com/2022/07/11/us/politics/jan-6-trump-cassidy-hutchinson-justice.html?smid=tw-share|

WASHINGTON — For the past year and a half, the Justice Department has approached former President Donald J. Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 election results with a follow-the-evidence strategy that to critics appeared to border on paralysis — and that limited discussions of his role, even inside the department.

Then came Cassidy Hutchinson.

The electrifying public testimony delivered last month to the House Jan. 6 panel by Ms. Hutchinson, a former White House aide who was witness to many key moments, jolted top Justice Department officials into discussing the topic of Mr. Trump more directly, at times in the presence of Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco.

In conversations at the department the day after Ms. Hutchinson’s appearance, some of which included Ms. Monaco, officials talked about the pressure that the testimony created to scrutinize Mr. Trump’s potential criminal culpability and whether he intended to break the law.

At some point, it becomes beyond indefensible. All here can decide for themselves where that threshold is and how close we are (or whether we've crossed it)...

that if were a Democrat who had done what IQ45 has done (I know, we'd like to think/believe that no such thing would ever happen) that the likes of Moscow Mitch, Koward Kevin, along with Empty Green, Loony Louie, and Groping Gaetz would be DEMANDING that the DOJ (if they didn't already have their own 'toadie' like Barr-Barr-Hutt in control) bring EVERY DEMOCRAT who had ever voted for the 'accused' up on charges.

Yes, it IS being played "WAY TOO SAFE!"

And in the meantime, states are passing more and more voter restriction laws, the MAGAts are feeling emboldened by the lack of action, and IQ45 continues his 'GRIFT OF AMERICA' campaign unhindered.

Let's go, DOJ - DO YOUR JOB!!!!!

Some right in the DoJ.

And Chris Wray is a Federalist Society member. And a Republican.

during the tRump/Moscow Mitch reign.
But I also remember a slew of DOJ people outside the building applauding the arrival of their new AG, Merrick Garland. And as far as I can figure, Merrick Garland is THE director that could (and SHOULD) be determining what gets done and when.

At least that's what I'm expecting and counting on...........

This obsession with whether the former guy "intended" to break the law becomes a Rorschach Test, except that everyone is playing devil's advocate and stopping themselves from acting because they aren't mindreaders. Present the average person on the street with the stark facts, and they won't have any trouble concluding that the person you're talking about intended to break the law.
