Instead, they say its a front for the Revolutionary Communist Party, a fringe far-left group dating back to the 1960s with a reputation for latching onto social movements for its own benefit.
In late June, 23 abortion funds and other pro-abortion rights groups issued a statement calling Rise Up a cult and accusing it of duping well-meaning abortion supporters into a pyramid scheme supporting the Revolutionary Communists. In the document, the groups said it was time for pro-abortion rights organizations to unite in discrediting RiseUp publicly and push it out of protest spaces.

(5,104 posts)I remember these nuts very well myself. I recall when they finally broke with the PRC and declared themselves to be "in solidarity" with Socialist Albania. LOL.
They were always fucking up demonstrations with their nuttery.
They would regroup under different names (wearing different t-shirts) but it was easy to see the same old faces of the Revolutionary Communist "Youth Brigade."
They we also the core of Berkeley's (actually based in Richmond) local Antifa organization.
For those who didn't read the linked article, they are indeed anti-LGBTQ (believing that Communism will purify these expressions of Capitalist decadence.
They are trouble and have always been trouble.

(22,399 posts)Avoiding the term "abortion" adds to the stigma. "Pro-choice" means nothing when access is as poor as it is, even before Roe. I routinely describe myself as pro-abortion. I am definitely in favor of procedures that help people live the lives they want to live, and abortion is one of them.
