It was great to see and hear Pres. Biden take a bow on the gun legislation being passed. It's nice to hear about his thinking about declaring a national emergency to codify abortion rights.

I only wish that he would be as forceful about VOTING RIGHTS AND PROTECTING ACCESS TO VOTING. Voting rights is the link to success in getting everything else he wants done . The people hurt the most by the lack of attention and forbearance to fight for voting justice are the very people who will vote for Democrats and the agenda they are trying to accomplish. Without protection for access to voting, and safeguards for fair and honest vote counting, the GOP will forever be in control of the majority with their RW minority. Free and fair elections is the LINK to our democracy. Gun control and reform and abortion are the benefits of our democracy. We have them because of our democracy. We do not have democracy because of them. The people who would deny us these benefits are the same people who are in power because of a bastardized, gerrymandered voting system that does not receive the attention it should.

I invite you to read my previous posts on this subject. The same people, the links, the same people, the links. If the system is corrupted, GOTV won't matter that much. The most important filibuster "carve out" of all is for voting rights...that's probably the reason it's not being done.

1. The DOJ will be out enforcing what remains of the voting rights act

President Biden and AG Garland have been busy rebuilding this section of the DOJ just as President Obama and AG Holder/Section head Tom Perez did after we got rid of Bush 43

Without an exception to the filibuster there is not much that President Biden can do. The DNC and state parties are busy recruiting lawyers to defend voting right this next cycle. I was on call for both the Texas primary and run off even though these were internal races.

We need to GOTV and get out the vote in 2022 to be able to fight concepts like the independent state legislature concept. For example, if Beto wins in Texas Beto will get to select the Secretary of state.

BTW, I note that the Lawyers for Biden group has been rolled into the DNC and this group will part of the voter protection efforts.
