1. The weapons were being stored at the Washington hotel, why weren't they used ?
2. When Trump said "to take the Mags down and let my people in", did the SS take them down ?
3. Those who stayed outside the security cordon and Mags, presumably, we are told, had weapons on them (although that included knuckledusters etc) some would have had guns/grenades. Why weren't they used ?
Anyone know the answer to that ?

1. Lack of coordination on the part of the mob, as well as restraint on the part of the police. Some say the Capitol Police under-reacted and should have gone to their firearms when the building was breached, but I believe that would have drawn return fire and cause a bloodbath.
2. That's an excellent question, and I wondered the same thing. But in the end it doesn't matter. They could have gone to the Capitol without attending the rally, and I believe many of them did. The key point there is that Trump knew some were armed, but he sicced them on Congress anyway.
3. Same as answer #1.

(19,962 posts)The key one for me is if they were armed, why didn't they use them when the chamber was being breeched? Perhaps they were aware that their key targets were already gone from there.

(6,625 posts)I believe you are correct there -- they chamber was empty by the time they gained access. I'm wondering the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. That would have been the time for the protestors to open fire. I'm thinking that either they didn't have an armed presence at that location or no one had a clear shot opportunity: they were in a narrow hallway blocked by a door, and the police officers on the other side were able to cover/conceal themselves in doorways.
