Just so tired of listening to MS-NBC and the cabal of ex-Republicans discussing what the Republican Party needs to do. Return to the conservative values. Republicans and these ex-Republicans enablers are and were evil. Corruption, racism and sexism has been the cornerstone of the Republican Party for ever. I want to discuss and hear discussed the Democratic Party initiatives and agenda. What TV show can I record and/or watch?

(4,298 posts)There used to be a few Democrat leaning shows but all the serious talk shows were taken off the air. It seems that the only shows that lean Democratic or liberal are relegated to late night, where they are regarded as late-night comedy.

(32,645 posts)... because Chris, Rachel, Lawrence, Joy and the others are great hosts. They do interview Democratic leaders and candidates often. They don't do the both-sider bullshit (too often) AND they are generally the best at what they do.
However the daytime shows are another story. My TV stays off during the day. Occasionally I might watch a movie or play some music. TV off before 6 p.m. From 6 to 7, I have on the local news. After that I'll watch Jeopardy and switch to MSNBC.
Occasionally I'll have on a baseball game, but the Pirates are rather disappointing.
It's OK to turn the TV off. A lot of us are doing it.

(17,623 posts)..just local news and weather. And I am finding some really good movies and classic /w tv shows..and OMG I learned to make the best potato leek soup watching Julia Child. Im not waking up at 3 am fretting about the world (much) anymore and my BP went down!
I skim DU for happy titles...
I used to have MSNBC on for hours every day and now I watch movies and binge-watchable TV shows, plus I read a lot more. I'll turn on the news for big stories or maybe a recap of the news in the evening, but no more leaving the TV on most of the day because I might miss something, a habit that started after 9/11.
And when I do watch cable news, there is a whole lot of fast-forwarding because they repeat the same stories over and over again using "expert opinions" as filler.

(47,507 posts)I've found that less TV is more informative. Even at its best, MSNBC just repeats the same two or three stories all day - lots of opinions, but not always a lot of substance and certainly not a whole lot of "news". So I watch less TV and get more news and opinions from newspapers and magazine articles online.
Here is a prime example: If you watch cable news all day long, you probably come away thinking the war in Ukraine must be over. 24/7 news and they can't fit a mention of the war in their coverage? Yesterday I watched two hours of Nicolle Wallace and all they talked about was today's January 6th hearing - TWO hours and no other news? Just opinions and predictions about what might happen today.
All these 24/7 news channels and we get more 'news' with less news.

(21,362 posts)People underestimate the power of the narrative. If the MSM truly was fair and balanced, Trump would be toast by now.
Cable news pushes the right wing narratives and there are a few anchors who put a progressive spin on the narrative but they are still talking about what the fascists want talked about.
