First, Ukraine Liberated Snake Island. Now, It's Shipping Grain From Nearby Ports.
Grain ships have begun sailing to Ukrainian ports on the Danube River near Romania.
The safe passage of eight cargo vessels from the Black Sea to the river ports of Reni and Izmail along the Danube-Black Sea Canal is a profoundly important development for Ukraines economy. The ships soon should sail back along the same routeand then out of the Black Sea via Turkeys Bosphorous Strait.
Even a partial recovery of sea exports will stimulate grain purchases by traders, which will support domestic prices, the countrys grain exchange stated.
The ships, each hauling potentially thousands of tons of cargo, could help to speed the flow of wheat and other grainsmillions of tons of themthat have piled up in Ukraines silos since the Russian Black Sea Fleet blockaded Ukraines biggest port, Odesa, starting in February.
