Roe V. Wade Ruling: She Found Out Her Baby Wouldn't Survive, But Was Denied An Abortion

TODAY via Yahoo News

One mom's message about the real-life consequences of the Roe v. Wade decision is going viral, and now that mom is sharing her story with TODAY Parents.

Chloe, an Arizona mom who asked that her last name be withheld to protect her privacy, said she found out her pregnancy was "incompatible with life" after a 21-week anatomy scan.

At first, she said, her OB-GYN planned to induce her so she could deliver. After the U.S. Supreme Court decision last month that reversed Roe, she said she learned she no longer had that option.

Chloe said the baby is having what feels like seizures inside her. She said she believes the baby is suffering and she just wants to treat her daughter’s birth and death with love.

Now the 21-year-old doesn't know what to do.

“I really can only describe it as feeling trapped,” she said.“Not being able to choose what to do in regards to me and her, I just feel trapped and it’s not fair to me or for anybody that’s going through something like this.”

I got to know a lot of families in loss situations.

One universal thing from women I came in contact with who found out that their babies (wanted, planned-for) had conditions incompatible with life, was that continuing to be pregnant (even if they chose to continue) was torturous. People, with the best of intentions would ask them about the baby, about when they were due, what they had chosen for names, and it all felt like torture.

They talked about how it was hard to tell people, but hard not to talk about it, but if you did, people didn't know how to handle it.

Women deserve to make their own choices. In every situation.

The amniotic sac broke at 14 weeks. No chance of survival, but the doctor said a crushing death was happening. Oh, and the chance my daughter would die of infection since no sac meant no protection. One person uttered what we were all thinking, “Thank God we don’t live in Texas.” Do those people care? Hell no. They are consumed by hate.

"Surely, there would be an exception for ________..." There almost always isn't.

After 6weeks since it's been legislated a fetus is a baby with a heartbeat, then any procedure after 6 weeks is in fact a Delivery.

At least that's how I call it.
