I don't drink a lot -- I just had a beer (beer is usually all I have at home, and a six-pack will sometimes last me weeks).
But about halfway through today's hearing, confronted with all the new evidence of how close we came to a much greater disaster on January 6th of last year, I started getting the muscle spasms in my back (from an old injury) that always tell me something is really more stressful than I can handle well.
The tweets about the hearing that I was skimming didn't help, either.
It was important to watch, so I kept watching, and kept skimming Twitter.
One thing made absolutely clear in today's hearing was that Trump KNEW he was breaking the law.
He wasn't ignorant. He wasn't stupid. He deliberately broke the law.
Not for the first time, of course. It's long been obvious that Trump thinks laws as well as non-legal standards of behavior are for oher people. Not for Trumps in general, or for him in particular.
But that doesn't matter. He knowingly broke the law. He knowingly led an an armed insurrection.
And there is more than enough evidence now for him to be indicted, convicted, and sent to prison for the rest of his life.

(73,559 posts)serves me correctly, I did five minutes before the hearing started, and again half-way through. But my short-term memory isn't what it was when I was young.

(413 posts)It keeps my hands busy, so I don't drink too much. On the other hand, a cold beer on the side is also welcome. Just one, or I start dropping stitches.

I'm a recovering alcoholic so no drinks for me but I do have an anxiety disorder so thank God I have my Xanax.
This is terrifying and there MUST be consequences!!!

(6,636 posts)Yesterday's hearing grimmer than I realized at the time; it's sinking in how close we came (and still could). The former oathkeeper who said we were lucky, the bloodshed could have been far, far worse.
Well, it's morning now, dusted myself off and will continue to work for good results November 8. Sure would be swell to get rid of Ron (what were you doing in Moscow July 4, 2018?) Johnson and Traitor Tom Tiffany.
