Escaped Vietnam's oppressive political environment and was given a place to belong in America.
Couldn't help thinking there might have been a tinge of anger in her voice, like someone may have question her patriotism because she wasn't born in America. That's the kind of bullshit I would expect she would have to deal with in Central Florida.
Seriously, this is the first time I had a good look at Stephanie Murphy, even though she's my Congress woman. But from what I just saw, I could seriously see her make a run for Governor one day, especially if she had more media opportunities like that one.
I hope she looks for other political opportunities (Democratic ones), because she looks like she's what this State needs.

(73,559 posts)I commented on her a while back, thinking she had a good future in politics, until a friend told me she isn't running for re-election. I know that she self-identifies as a blue-dog democrat, and I am unlikely to agree with her on many issues. Still I recognize her value, and respect her. Today we had a conservative Senator and a liberal Senator leading the hearing, along with the chair and co-chair. I think that works best for this type of investigation.
