As the truth comes out I don’t see how he can avoid serious charges and I don’t see how he could not be indicted. He might gets short stay in a country club prison, but I think the enormity of his coup efforts will mean he might get a heavy sentence. How could he not, for historic crimes?

I'd like to give the poor sod the benefit of thinking his dear father Fred was a manipulative asshole and the little djt has something like PTSD. Jesus, Fred's full name is "Frederick Christ Trump, Sr." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Trump).

You can see poor djt never being able to live up to his father's moniker and always feeling insecure. Needing more money and more power and more affirmation and inflicting more humiliation. Sounds like a recipe for a psycho-pharmocological solution.

He may figure that if HE calls, personally, his target will be so overwhelmed that he or she will just cave to his “charms.” He’s a manipulative fucker, and may try to appeal purely to the mark’s ego. “OMG you’ll NEVER guess who called ME!?!”

Of course it depends on the mark, and whether he/she pays much attention to the news. And an unexpected brush with fame can really change the equation.

He will not inspire "millions" of people. A small amount, maybe in the thousands, may try to instigate violence, which unfortunately, would be enough to cause major disruptions in society, but which will not lead to any new Civil War, like the former Oath Keeper said.

Most Americans are not engaged enough in the system to have a full on millions versus millions Civil War.

The problem is that even a few thousand crazy ass supporters can cause a lot of havoc if they hit big targets or cause disruption by taking out local infrastructure.

I simply do not think that enough people are really that interested in going to war for Donald Trump to be in the millions.

Justice matters.

You pounce when the fire is hot. There should be new indictments filed the day after the Jan 6 commission brings up new testimonial evidence. It should be a synchronized plan of two ongoing events. The Congressional commission and the DOJ following the evidence presented and a day (or a few days) later adding a new charge and continuing.

This sitting back and seemingly trying to find reasons NOT to prosecute will backfire. Especially if the guiding "wisdom" in the higher circles of Democratic leadership is to wait until after Nov. for fear of mobilization of the pro Trump voters.

Even if we keep the House after Nov. when then? I can see a force within the party as pushing for a quiet end to it as they won anyways, so why spend the last part of Joe's first term handing ammunition to the "poor Trump" media?

If Garland does go ahead with indictments, but its separated from the commission by months and months that gives time for media like Fox News to pound Americans with disinformation about what catastrophic results will happen if the witch trial goes ahead. Doing it in conjunction, even a slight delayed reaction, keeps them spinning. Already you see the infighting on Fox News as some just can't keep up the facade and have to admit something is not right in Trump World. Give them a few months of Garland stalling and making excuses and Murdoch and his minions will have time to form their conspiracies for Tucker and the other propagandists to project their crafted reality to the viewers.

I don't either. But I smell another attempt to discredit ongoing investigations and gathering of necessary information prior to presenting to a court.

Let's stop worrying about how this appears to the media and to other people that really want some form of justice, right now. Let's do worry about making sure that the cases against these are solid enough to stand up in all of the various courts that they will be presented.

Most likely all his delaying tactics will be applied until there is nothing to send to prison but a stooped old guy yelling at clouds. Or they'll succeed until he buys the farm.

What I'd love to see are his passport(s) confiscated and an ankle monitor to keep him in whatever "home" he chooses.

Face it, he's an old guy and not in the best of health. Don't get your hopes up for timely incarceration, aint gonna happen.
