How can any of us forget militia member Timothy McVeigh blowing the Murrah Federal Building and killing over 160 people..

I did not catch the first half of the hearings today (got them copied to watch later) but watching those two witnesses in the 2nd part.. brought me hope for the first time

Maybe this will finally help root out the militias, and white supremist groups..

1. Why would you think that?

Hateful, ignorant people with guns and flawed sense of patriotism make up a substantial minority of our population. They see themselves as the army of God and Trump. They believe that the only "real" Americans are straight, white, Christian men with European ancestry. A lot of them wear blue uniforms in your city. They are not going anywhere in the short term. We need to wage a war on them like the war on drugs; put them in prison until they are too old to be a threat. The necessary laws are already on the books, but we have a major political party that wants them protected.

3. It's so daunting because, like you pointed out, they make up a

very significant portion of many police and sheriffs' departments. They're also at every level in the military. The next time a Republican gets in the White House he (of course it will be a "he&quot will undoubtedly appoint violent Kool Aid-drinking loons to the highest levels of all law "enforcement"/security/Pentagon/intelligence, etc., so they can carry out the full-on successful coup the Republicans are literally gunning for, destroy democracy entirely, and implement one-party authoritarian Christofascism.

The Big Orange Pig emboldened them and they were more than happy to come into the light, on public display and almost be legitimized. It did wonders for their recruiting.

Look at at the young losers that came out of the woodwork with their AR-15s, blowing the shit our of children, church-goers, grocery shoppers etc. Most would never have done this without Trump and his legitimizing these crazy misfits.

Hopefully it'll drive them back into the woods where they can play commando on Saturdays, then break out the keg of beer. Just like Kavanaugh, they love beer. Recruiting will suffer and although they won't be wiped out, at least they'll be neutralized.

5. The greatest threat to our country isn't militias. It's "white collar" coup plotters/participants.

The Trumps, Powells, and Giulianis look buffoonish, but they would succeed with enough Clarks, Millers, and Thomases in place. Without even a shot fired.
