(2,256 posts)..the comment as sarcasm. Maybe sarcasm was the wrong choice of words. Maybe would have been better.
For months, Trump's state of mind has been the unestablished factor relative to his believing the election was rigged and his intent in trying to block the peaceful transfer of power. All kinds and numbers of authoritative people were telling him the election was righteous and he lost, so he can't plead willful ignorance.
On the night of Dec 18, the kooks were telling him he could still circumvent the result of the election by getting Pence to not certify the electoral votes, while a room full of lawyers were telling him he couldn't. But rather than listen to reason, he opted to go with the kooks' plan.
He knew some of the protest mob members had weapons, wanted the security people to turn off the metal detectors so the gun toting fools could go inside the Capitol. He wanted to stop the certification process at any cost. There's appears to be little doubt relative to his state of mind at this point.
So, "Trump lost and he knew it" is a taunt.
