at keeping us alive the longest. Then again there is the quality of life. I don't want to be 90 and sitting in a nursing home drooling into my soup watching the weather channel..YMMV..

Starting In 1975, when the GOPer Ford was president. I think he got a very Nixon like healthcare law implemented.

I understand from a nurse in the UK, who visits elderly people in their homes, that as the population lifespan increases, there are fewer people who are permanently bed ridden. People stay healthier up until the point of death at least in the UK.

Like my brother in law's Mom who was driving, going to the theater and lunching with the girls, up until she had a heart attack and passed away a day later at 89. That's how I want to go.

Die young as late as possible!! My aunt was the same. Very active, ate well still worked PT and died quick at 92 from a massive stroke. Did not feel a thing.. For me it's all about quality of life not quantity. Try to eat healthy, exercise and keep the mind working..
Works for me and I'm a geezer!!
Your health is like the 1 in $1,000,000. With out the 1 you are just left with a bunch of zeros.

2. The graph is already outdated. The US will likely soon be spending

over 18,000 USD per capita on healthcare (2028 estimate). And that is with the current system. The Rethugs, if they regain power, will only serve to increase the rate of the systemic redistributionist wealth transfer from the many up to the few at the top of the pyramidion.

The US is currently spending around 13,500 USD per capita.

Keeping the profit motive front and centre as a core, central, organising tenet for a basic human right is antihuman madness, as well as incredibly shit economics.

10. The healthcare "system" we do NOT have is one of SEVERAL reasons

for lower life expectancy. Thinking is important. It makes us smart and keeps us from being used.

Failing to think is the #1, 2, and 3 reasons that people don't vote Democratic -- to work on all the serious reasons our average lifespans have been dropping.

It's also why we weren't the first in the world to have modern universal healthcare system. We had everything else it would have required.
