...he would be irrelevant if voters in Maine, which went for Biden, hadn't opted to split their votes to re-elect Deeply Concerned. Or, for that matter, if Cunningham in NC had kept his pants zipped at least until the election was over.

Manchin aggravates the hell out of me, especially because he can't just say no fast. He has to drag it out forever and then say no.

But it's not like the Senate is 99-1 and he's holding it up. The reason he has this power is because there are 50 Republican senators, virtually all of which come from states that are less red than West Virginia.

If Maine (Biden +9), NC (Biden -1), Pennsylvania (Biden +1), or Wisconsin (even) had an extra Democratic senator, we wouldn't have to rely on a guy from a state that went for TFG by 39 freaking points.

And, yes, Manchin is a Democrat. He votes for virtually all of Biden's nominees and a lot of other major bills too.

Yes, he's super annoying. But the real problem is the other 50 senators.

Supported the bill instead of protecting his fellow zillionaires and coal.

I'm done rationalizing in this way.
