This Cheney I admit I sorta like...

First, we cannot ever assume that one point of view can run the show. And even if we get a Dem government, we will have our own disputes. The only true way to run things is to have all sides have a voice. That is not to say that I agree at all with rightwing idiocy, but rational conservatives must have a voice.

I somehow got on a conservative mailing list and today got this from Cheney. I would never send her any money, but if she became my Congressperson, I have no problem with this type of honesty.

Liz Cheney for Wyoming

Friend,

God has blessed America. But our freedom will only survive if we protect it, if we take our duty and our obligation seriously.

But I also know that at this moment, we are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before. And that is a former president who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our Constitutional Republic. And he is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.

Now, some in my party are embracing former President Trump. And even after all we’ve seen, they’re enabling his lies. Many others are urging that we not confront Donald Trump, that we look away. And that is certainly the easier path.

But to argue that the threat posed by Donald Trump can be ignored is to cast aside the responsibility that every citizen – every one of us – bears to perpetuate the Republic. We must not do that, and we cannot do that.

During this time of testing, I am asking for your help. My bid for re-election is going to be a fight, but it is a fight I am ready to wage. And it is a fight that I encourage you to join.

Yeah, she's a step up from the insanity that is now the majority of the GOP. Her kind gets power again they'll go back to doing the same thing they did before. Starve the 99% to feed the 1% and crap up every corner of the planet. No thanks.

What Liz Has Done:

* Cosponsored legislation to: prevent taxpayer money from being used to fund abortions, defund Planned Parenthood, and issue harsh penalties on physicians who refuse to care for children born during a failed abortion.

* Signed an Amicus Brief supporting a LA state law that would have required all abortion providers to have hospital admitting privileges.

* Signed an Amicus Brief supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor and their religious objection to the Obamacare Contraception Mandate.

* Backed legislation that would require that health care practitioners who are present at the live birth exercise skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child.

* Strongly opposed infanticide and supported Republican legislation that would end the practice. Democrats have blocked this legislation from coming to the House Floor 80+ times.

* Signed onto a letter opposing President Biden’s Executive Order on overturning the Mexico City Policy.

* Signed onto a letter to Leadership ensuring the protection of Hyde Provisions.

* Cosponsored HR. 534, the Protecting Life in Foreign Assistance Act, which would codify the Trump Administration’s expanded Mexico City Policy by amending the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to prohibit global health assistance from going to foreign nongovernmental organizations that promote or perform elective abortions.

* Cosponsored HR. 243, Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which amends the Public Health Service Act to prohibit the Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) from providing federal family planning grants to entities that perform abortions or provide funds to entities that perform abortions.

* Cosponsored HR. 541, which provides for a moratorium on Federal funding to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc.

* Cosponsored HR. 619, the Born Alive Protection Act, which prohibits a health care practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.

* Cosponsored HR. 620, Dignity for Aborted Children Act, which requires abortion providers to dispose of aborted fetal remains just as they would any other human remains. Failure to do so would be punishable by a fine and up to five years in prison.

* Cosponsored HR. 1011, which implements equal protection under the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution for the right to life of each born and preborn human person.

* Signed onto a letter to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) requesting they include the following pro-life provisions in the appropriations bill: strengthen conscience protections for health care providers, maintains the integrity of our nation’s vital medical research, and ends taxpayer subsidies for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc. and their affiliates.

* Signed onto a letter to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs asking them to redirect taxpayer funding from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that perform, actively promote, or lobby for elective abortion. The letter also asked that the subcommittee redirect funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) due to its complicity in China’s brutal birth limitation policy.

* Signed onto a letter to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) requesting that they retain all longstanding pro-life provisions as bill text. The letter emphasized the importance of the language and integrity of these provisions, which have been signed into law annually on a broad bipartisan basis for decades, are carried forward in this year’s spending bills.

* Preventing taxpayer money from being used to fund abortions.
* Defunding Planned Parenthood.
* Issuing harsh penalties on physicians who refuse to care for children born during a failed abortion.

And that's just abortion. You call this rational?

Rep. Cheney is demonstrating that she is a true American patriot who is standing up for our Constitution. Her intelligence and perseverance in pursuing the goals of the J6 Committee are admirable.

But I can state the same things about Rep. Thompson, Rep. Raskin and all the others on the Committee.

Face it: In the end, Rep. Cheney is a hardcore traditional Republican. In the battle to destroy Trump, she's an ally. But on almost every other issue and concern, she is not aligned with the Democratic viewpoint.

I respect her. I also fear and loathe her.

Rep.Cheney changed her position on same sex marriage since her sister came out. She said she was wrong and her thinking had evolved.

Otherwise, you're spot on. She voted with the Trump agenda somewhat north of 90% of the time.

Rep. Cheney is right to go after Trump. Otherwise, she's not my friend.
