In a truck stop eating my breakfast when some guy sitting in a table next to me asked if I voted for Trump in the last election? I politely answered no. He says oh, youre one of those people. I just looked at him and replied we are all the same people, yet we cant get along to even carry on a conversation that make any sense. He was dumbfounded by my reply. He set there a few minutes and started in again about Trump was being railroaded by the Democrats. I politely told him I was going to talk about Trump. He wanted to start an argument, but I was not going to let him. As I finished eating, another guy walks in and sat in another table. Sure enough, the 1st guy starts in with the same question. The 2nd guy was willing to carry on with him. I couldnt get out of there quick enough.

(3,511 posts)Don't engage beyond that. One of the worst things Trump did as President was to make it okay to express racism, bigotry, and anti-American sentiment acceptable in public conversation.

(32,068 posts)Trying to bait me into talking about their politics. You can always tell what side theyre on. I have yet to be baited by a liberal. We just dont do that.
Maybe because Im white, female, and 60-ish they think Im on their side. Who knows with these kooks. Thankfully it hasnt happened in a while.
You have a right to eat your breakfast in peace, imanamerican63. Good for you not egging him on.

(12,904 posts)That he has to ride in a truck with 4 trumpers every day for an hour to get to and from a job site.
I would guess, from the colorful language he used, that they are driving him crazy. I felt sorry for him.

(16,185 posts)and now that there are no ballot drop boxes you won't be voting for him this year.
Not like you would vote for him but you don't have to say that.

(17,643 posts)I am a retired construction worker, I look like them, I dress like them, I drive a pick-up truck, I am old, Southern, white, live in a rural area, I am overweight and have a short haircut. You can imagine the conversations that I overhear. I avoid conversations on politics with them for reasons of health and safety. It is my ability to invisibly move among them that has me so fearful of what they are willing and capable of. There are some really nasty bastards living among us.

(22,924 posts)walked into the dispatch office the next morning to a group of whiny ass truck drivers all bitching about the election. My transportation manager looked at me and said I imagine your happy about the election. I replied, the majority of voters in Americas are happy. I smiled, grabbed my paperwork and left.
