In my blood red area of town

I've noticed a shift in the last month or more. I have seen far less tRump flags and yard signs. One close to me that flew the MAGA flag higher than the American flag has taken the tRump/MAGA flag down. In its place is the yellow 'Don't Tread on me' flag.

There may be several reasons for the shift:

-The orange maggat is not as popular as he once was.
-The flags were not of good quality and the residents chose not to replace the tattered ones with a new one.
-People are paying attention to the J6 hearings even though they won't admit it.
-It's Summer and there are other things to do; softball, swimming, boating, fishing...
-They are concentrating on belittling President Biden more instead.

Whatever it is, I'm sure I am at a false sense of security and by the end of Summer the MAGA stuff will be in full swing again, and yes, I believe the tRump flags will return.

... and geographically, most of the state is rural, small towns, and very, very red. I hurt my hip last winter and I've been unable to do fieldwork since the winter. I'm curious if the phenomenon you wrote about holds here as well. Because until I was sidelined with this injury (getting a hip replacement in the fall, it's that bad), I saw all sorts of magat crap all over the fucking state. The worst was having to do an inspection where the outside windows of the business were covered with magat flags and posters. I felt contaminated walking in there - not from the environmental hazards I was there to assess, but politically contaminated.

I am SO looking forward to not having pain anymore. Can you imagine? I slipped and fell on ice, jammed my hip, which somehow reduced blood flow to my femoral head, which has been dying and disintegrating. So it's a full hip replacement on worker's comp's dollar.

I've been curious to see if the red areas around the state have dug in or backed off on their support. I won't get back on the road until next year at least. It was mighty disconcerting to see all their rabid support for the orange fuck and it's mostly been in the crappiest, poorest areas. And whitest areas, of course.

I drove through a rural stretch of FL at least once a month. It was plastered with trump flags and a few stores selling merch.

Last month was the first time since Covid and nothing. Nadda. Zilch. No huge flags, no stores, no signs. I'm thinking a good many of them most likely died on the altar of Trumpism.

I still see the same rump paraphernalia in the yards of MAGAts, including Trump/Pence signs. One says ‘Trump was right about everything,’ which is especially galling.

Promises to lower taxes on the rich? Um, that really affected you in your trailer with the three cars up on blocks in front of it.

I'd SO love to get a stack of "FUCK, NO!!!!" bumper stickers and slap one on every one of those that I see!

Last week it was a huge "women for tRump" flag on the road, and a small 2024 yard sign
The week before it was a huge "don't blame me, I voted for tRump" flag and that one was inside a convenience store I rarely go to. Inside. Assume they were selling them, because they support him. I haven't seen that one flying anywhere around town, yet. And I still see a lot of bumper stickers that should have been removed long ago.

He's been making, grifting money from all this merchandise. Once he declares for 2024 I suspect we in red zones will see an increase.

their trump materials. They even had stones in their flower bed with his name painted on them. They had long given up on Pence, taping out his name on the signs. The only things left are “pray” signs, scripture posters and a Mastriano yard sign. Still ugly, but progress.

The angry mob that Trump whipped up might not be as enamored with Trump himself as they were before, but they are no less authoritarian and radical and brimming with grievances than before.

Plenty of Republicans are available to take Trump's place, some of whom will act just as stupid to appeal to the rubes, but won't actually be as stupid, so they'll be more dangerous.
