6. If you want to really get into the weeds about this, Perun and William Spaniel.

Perun is aces in my book. He is a Economist who specializes in the military industrial complex and national military investment strategy. He gets into the nuts and bolts of economy of the whys and the were for's . His posts are long but well thought out and is like a power point presentation.
Spaniel is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Pittsburgh. He received a PhD in political science from the University of Rochester. He uses game theory to explain much of the " why did they do that?" stuff.
His vid's are not that long and informative also.. YMMV
