email from Gavin Newsom today (email actually included this gif)

Thanks to the new budget signed by Gavin Newsom:

1. 23 million Californians will get up to $1,050, the largest tax rebate in California history.

2. California is the FIRST and ONLY state in the nation offering universal access to health care coverage.

3. We are making our own insulin in California.

4. Universal preschool, free school meals, expanded before and after school programs.

5. $53.9 billion in new investments to fight fire, drought, and the climate crisis.

6. Billions in investments to address homelessness, infrastructure projects, and youth suicide reporting and prevention.

7. The largest gun buyback program in the nation.

California is leading the way.

Let’s keep it blue in 2022.

Team Newsom

I live in a county in the northern part of the wine country. When I moved here in '91 it was solid red. It is now blue. It takes time, but it is a definite trend. A lot of it is baby boomers from Silicon Valley retiring here. Also work-from-home is bringing people here. Not so much to affect property values very much, but enough to elect Democrats. Our County Supervisors are nearly all Democratic now. The same thing is happening in nearby counties.

I just read an article last week about that very thing. It gave examples of how a specific event/law etc happened in CA, then something like 15 yrs later the rest of the country started doing same. I just tried to find it and no luck so far. It was interesting as it was really true. I think the article was in something like The Atlantic, or The Nation or some other magazine. If I can find it will come back and post the link.

We may not do everything right here, but you won't get me to leave!! All of the complainers can head on back to Texas or up to Idaho!
