Ran across a really great post on Reddit about arguing with anti-abortion types. It was mostly a moderator laying out some rules, but the last bit should be noted as a way to talk to anti-abortion types. I've highlighted it.

Simply call them by their name. Monsters.
And say: "Because she wanted to."
Do not say: "But what about sexual violence. But what about ectopic pregnancies."
Don't get driven into a corner where you are reduced to begging for rare exceptions to allow women the basic human right of bodily autonomy.
Take back the line. Step forward. Draw that line in the sand.
"Because she wanted to."
That is all that is required, that is all the justification that is needed.
Why should she be allowed to terminate a pregnancy?
"Because she fucking wanted to."/igm284x/
I think it is a great way to shut these types down. Just say "She got the procedure because she wanted to" and leave it at that.

I have no problem saying that to them.

(9,078 posts)I say that because there are situations where a woman has to make a difficult choice if she intended to give birth and has serious complications. 'Wanting to' doesn't really cover that.

(169 posts)Don't get an abortion if you don't believe in it. Don't tell me you don't believe in it. I won't tell you I do. It is no one's business but the woman. Her body her choice.

(9,535 posts)Many women with wanted pregnancies wind up needing abortions because of risks to the mother or problems with the fetus.
And women with unwanted pregnancies also need abortions for reasons such as being unable to afford a baby, not wanting to disrupt school or career, already having too many children to care for, needing to get out of an abusive relationship, rape or incest.
So better to say "because she needed to," instead of "wanted to." Many women don't want abortion, but feel that it's the best of bad options.

(10,916 posts)It doesn't matter if she "needed" or "wanted" the procedure. It's her decision.

(16,508 posts)Or rather 2 different versions of the same meme. They're both on the subject of why women have abortions, and they both make the same point in slightly different ways. One is a little more "in your face" than the other.
First, the more subtle version:
And here's the other one:
Take your pick and use as desired. I'm rather fond of the 2nd one myself. 🤗

Although I would love to see consequences imposed upon the forced birthers. If they force a birth over the will of the woman involved, then theyre automatically on the hook to provide financial support for the ensuing 18 years.
Theyre NOT gonna give up and stop meddling in womens private lives. So then make em pay for the privilege.
