I was an alternate on an asbestos jury. As soon as deliberations begin the state pays for lunch, even for the alternates. So, day one of deliberations we all had a fine Mexican lunch and for the first time permitted to discuss the case. Immediately after lunch the verdict was delivered by the jury. Afterwards one of the jury members told me they thought everyone deserved a good lunch together.

If I have a traffic ticket and I refuse to pay or show up, there is a bench warrant for my arrest. Why does big fat and ugly get a jury trial for breaking the same type of law? How you plead not guilty for something everyone knows you did?
