A contraceptive implant can prevent pregnancy for up to three years. It must be removed and replaced every three years to continue prevent pregnancy.

some don't believe in birth control, don't know or don't care or can't afford it

Some have no partner, a female partner, or an infertile partner or are infertile themselves or are just not having sex

And others rely on other forms or birth control

Even vasectomies. All have some negative side effects too. The abortion safety net is important part of family planning.

I have read several articles indicating a greater number young people currently are less sexually active than in previous generations.

All these things add up.

birth control pills don't protect against STDs. Condoms do.

(My 32 y/o daughter uses condoms - as well as insisting on STD tests before engaging in sexual activity.)

Condoms, spermicides, foams, sponge was big. I used to use VCF to double up whenever I was worried.
