I propose IL Gov Pritzker if Joe doesn't run in 2024

Personally, I’m sure our candidates will be Joe/Kamala in 2024… that said I like Kamala. It should be Kamala. I think the press has unfairly savaged her.

BUT…

We can’t afford to try to win with a “historic” choice - woman or an AA woman. We need to win. With Joe Biden, a safe choice, we win. With Kamala? There’s too many sexist bigots who will never consider her atm dammit.

So I propose Pritzker if Joe won’t/can’t run.

Pritzker has dragged IL out of its fiscal hole - he has serious govt managerial credibility and business acumen. Check mark fiscal conservatives.

He’s for legal weed (enacted legal weed in IL) and student loan debt relief. He’s implementing a massive abortion accessibility campaign for out of state patients - check mark young voters.

He’s a billionaire - check mark the idiots who think that qualifies a person like #Traitor.

He’s not Newsome. No CA baggage or labels.

He’s kept the Chicago machine in check - which means he already knows how to keep the Democratic Party in hand.

He’s a fat white guy and (despite his posh family) he comes across as a fat white guy. Relatable. His actions/comments after the Highland Park shooting drew international acclaim.

We’d have to expend a lot of energy countering the whole CA “Hollywood” out-of-touch bullshit.

I would add that I’m wary of Kim Guilfoyle. She has stories I’m sure. She will be unleashed to smear Newsome with “stories” even though 90% will be untrue.

Let me repeat, 90% of Kimmer’s stories will be untrue but her version of events will be amplified 1000x. We dare not discount the rightwing media churn

Theoretically both are billionaires.

Plus, Pritzker won his election over Rauner - an incumbent “billionaire”. The race was billed as a race between billionaires. It’s a campaign Pritzker has already fought AND won but now he has so many more “Everyman” wins in IL that nobody seriously thinks Pritzker is coming at politics from an elitist position anymore.

that Newsom seems to have lots going for him; Pritzker too, tho I hadn't been persuaded until he got the Governor job; I'd lived in Chicago for 10+ years, NOT since he's been governor.

JB could lose. That's why he funded the insanest of the repubs running in the primary.

He’s the unflappable happy warrior.

For those that don’t know his story, he too had wealthy parents and was part of the business, but unlike the orange mass he worked, not sitting behind a desk but doing laundry. Everyday after school and on the weekends. Says he could fold sheets blindfolded.

He’s very generous with his fortune. Everywhere you go in Chicago, be it the planetarium, Shedd Aquarium or Millennium Park he’s helped make these places happen. Just gave 62 million to dem governor’s campaigns.

I still don’t see it as much of a “deterrent first” as a woman or African American woman but yup, it’s there
