I'm from NY-watching this from Miami is just so surreal. My parents met in Rockaway. Gave to Red Cross last night- may need to give again tonight. It hurts my heart to see this. But the music is great!

I met Billy Joel when he was just a teenager starting out and appearing in coffee houses in the Village. My daughter lives not far from where he grew up in Hicksville.

I, too, am a native New Yorker (West Village), living in Florida (job, not choice). I SO miss MY New York. I can't stop crying watching all this. That poor, poor woman left with NOTHING in Staten Island.

He played at a club near by called My House in a band called The Hassles. He always reminds me of LI.

This is so heartbreaking. And Surreal watching from Florida.

We played under that boardwalk. We had to walk to it because we could only afford a cottage on the bay side, not on the ocean.

Bad hearing maybe? But it has seemed fine here.

I don't think even all these pictures are reflecting any where near the devistation...it's terrible. And SO massive.

Sorry, but that gets me every time. Pets are disporportionally effected by disasters. At least some shelters are accepting pets now. I know I couldn't leave my kittehs alone.

I actually LIKE the low production values and the technical problems. It makes it all seem more urgent. More real. The performers doing it for the event's sake, not their own.

But I'm wondering. Where is this being done?

That didn't look like Patty playing the 'fiddle.' Was it and she's changed that much or is she not playing with Bruce any longer?

I saw Bruce & the E St. Band when they got back together in Philly @ the FU center and I was right in front of her. I feel like we connected in a very non-stalkery way. We shared a few smiles and some eye contact. So, I wonder where she is now (again, in a non-stalkery way )
