J.D. Vance has said that women need to stay in abusive, violent marriages and Herschel Walker is a certifiable fool who has fathered children with multiple women and can't complete a thought. Yet they are in a tied in their Senate races against intelligent, qualified Democrats.
Hell, even verified pedophile Roy Moore only lost by less than a point.
It makes one very cynical about a big percentage of American voters.

(6,692 posts)There is no reason a wife can divorce her husband in the bible. The only option is if she slept with another man. I assume the reason being she might be pregnant with some other man's baby. Property should not pass to the other guys' kid.
All about money ....

(768 posts)It's the 40%-50% that have decided not to participate in their own representation that got us here.
Reality is that regularly voting Democrats and Republicans are minorities, with around 25% of the voting population each, plus or minus 5% which is about the percentage that ends up deciding the Presidential.
These non-voters are who we have to reach if we have any hope in keeping our democracy. The apathetic Americans who refuse to participate in the determination of their own fate.

(8,968 posts)Having the "audacity" to hold the worst president in U.S. history to account for his crimes will certainly lose her a lot of votes from within her own party. In a nutshell, doing the right thing has no appeal to the Republican base, either within their party or against the opposition.

(14,275 posts)I was talking to a contractor this afternoon. He told me his wife died of Covid last year and that was a wake up call for him. He said his late wife had been a big Trump supporter. Since she passed he told me he's been doing some deep thinking. He said his he and his wife were tricked. He said Trump lied to him. He said his pastor lied to him. The TN Republicans lied to him and he was finally done. Once he's done with one last big construction job, he's moving to the Philippines and giving up on America. He's already bought a home over there and will be spending his final days having fun with some of his old Army buddies.
That's two votes gone forever.
