(5,141 posts)Governor Sandwiches is still the Governor of a largely Democratic state. In spite of my personal feelings about the Governor I applaud him for choosing HUMANS over PARTY.
That said, i would kiss any body part of my governor, Andrew Cuomo, because he gets it. That, and every time he speaks I close my eyes and pretend its Mario Cuomo speaking.

I mean the guy was his keynote speaker. I think Christie went thru the motions at the convention, figuring it wasn't close and Romney would lose. He played the good soldier and attacked Obama some, promoted himself a lot and barely mentioned Mittens.
When he perceived it was close, he stabbed Romney in the back and gave him a real blow politically.
And I love it. Nothing better than asshole on asshole crime.

(14,040 posts)I think the Romney camp approached Christie for a photo op, and couched it in those terms without even asking, or maybe even suggesting, how great this disaster would be for Romney.

(3,789 posts)That Christie did a radio interview and when asked if he heard from Romney, Christie said he hadn't heard from him since Sunday.

(22,871 posts)election event using the storm as the centerpiece and maybe Christie realized what a power hungry monster Romney is. That's my hope anyway.

(10,942 posts)Good leaders work with others, regardless of political party, and differences. I have new found respect for Christie, he is being a Lion for his state's residents, he is doing the job that they expect of him.

(1,206 posts)People, please stop making fun of this; it is getting tiresome. Things are REALLY tough here for A LOT of people in New Jersey.
There are people still without adequate food and/or shelter, and with barely the clothes on their backs for posession. One of those people happens to be a lady that my Mom works with. That woman just underwent brain surgery for an aneurysm less than 2 months ago, and now her family is camped out at her sister-in-law's house.
Every time Christie wants to call the President is fine by me. And if that buys Christie another 4 years as our governor, then it will be well-deserved.

(7,820 posts)The right thing to do and the politically shrewd thing are probably the same, which is fine. I really don't care why Christie has been doing what he's been doing. People in NJ need help, and he and Pres Obama are working together to get it to them. Good on 'em.

(16,854 posts)While Christie poses on Marine 1 with the POTUS and looks like a disaster hero.
Never forget, he's a Republican. It takes a certain type of person to be one of those.
Christie sees a chance to win in a Dem state - to one extent or another.
Who knows, maybe he got religion.

(466 posts)can truly help, so he has a new found love for it and Obama.
Seriously though, I think Christi just doesn't like Romney. He probably saw his posturing during that "donate cans of soup event" and got turned off by it.
Generally speaking, Christi isn't the worst of the republicans (I remember him sticking up for that Muslim judge), and I don't doubt that he cares about his state, but he's still a bully -- and I would never hesitate to vote him out in favor of a Democrat (I happen to live in NJ right now).
