Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) recently complained that toxic masculinity is not accepted in the military anymore and said she would have thought it would be a leading requirement to get in.
They purged the military, the extremist congresswoman said during an appearance on the Dear America podcast hosted by Graham Allen, a right-wing media personality and Army veteran.
The warriors are leaving, Allen said.
Absolutely, Greene added. Why do they want to be there? Theyre going through woke training. Their toxic masculinity is completely not accepted, even though, what are the military for? I would think toxic masculinity would be a No. 1 requirement.

(16,855 posts)But she knows that every time she says something appalling, which is just about any time, her comments will be broadcast far and wide, and she'll raise even more money. I wonder what she would say if we all ignored her for a while. My guess is that she would continue to out-match herself in outrageous comments until she digs her own grave, rhetorically speaking.

(11,818 posts)...why was he in the military for 12 years? I don't know many people, if any, who get out at that point.

(17,017 posts)Interestingly, I cant find anything other than that he retired. I would think if it was an honorable discharge hed mention it.

(11,818 posts)...and that was for a very brief period of time, and only available to certain Rates/MOS's. I'm suspect as to why he "retired" after 12 years.

(15,349 posts)Never once did a tough guy have to tell me they were a "tough guy".
I did, however, see a bunch of folks, who thought they were badass, break down and cry if the Mess Decks Ice Cream machine was secured for cleaning, or if the Ship's Store ran out of Cheetos.
I also saw a bunch of guys laying in a heep of sweat, panting like a dog in Pascagoula, MS on an August day after our female Commanding Officer invited them to PT with her.
But, make no mistake, there are a lot of greasy, fat bastards that haven't seen their own penis in the past 30 years without using a mirror, that think she is taking about them.
God, she's a waste of skin.

(11,818 posts)...for someone with "toxic masculinity", she should do some research. Start with Tailhook, and work your way up from there.

(11,744 posts)Toxic is bad, deadly even. There is nothing inherently wrong with what we call "masculinity" or "femininity". The problem comes when the diversity of people's experiences are not taken into consideration. When we are expected to perform or held to rigid patterns of behavior. When one set of qualities of favored and given advantage over another.
The idea that "Women are too emotional" and "Real men don't cry". That is the bullshit that results from and propagates sexism and misogyny. When men are expected to be and praised for being aggressive, violent, sexist, and generally pieces or crap to other people, that is "Toxic Masculinity".
The military requires bravery, honor, the ability to follow orders and carry out tasks that are dangerous and go against some of our socially learned taboos. You have to be ready to kill or die. Those are not particularly "masculine" traits, though they have definitely been fostered more in men than in women. There are plenty of women who want to be and have tried to be in the military, in combat units.
Sometimes I wonder if Greene is a troll, but I don't think that she is intelligent enough to be a troll. I think she thinks her ideas are genuinely valid.

She probably has heard from flops and rejects who cant stand a more decent and inclusive military. Good riddance.
