Mike Pence Sold His Soul for Nothing - He was honorable on January 6th, but not before or after.

..........

Pence prostituted his reputation for Christian piety to the most vile figure in the history of American presidential politics, a man who modeled the opposite of every virtue taught in Sunday school. Pence lent his credibility as a religious man to a villain, and gave permission to millions of self-styled Christians to vote for him. Pence’s pious conscience was remarkably quiescent when Trump encouraged his followers to rough up hecklers; when he bore false witness against Muslim Americans (falsely claiming that he saw them celebrating after 9/11); when he attempted to extort the president of Ukraine to lie about Joe Biden; when he separated asylum-seeking parents from their children; when he refused to condemn the tiki-torch Nazi wannabes in Charlottesville; when he elevated a series of kooks and conspiracists to high office; and when he insisted that the election had been stolen.

Pence was fine with all of it.

.............

.......Worse than simply remaining silent, he played the toady with seemingly endless reserves of self-mortification, uttering cringeworthy encomia to Trump’s “broad-shouldered leadership” (a phrase he repeated at least 17 times), and audacious lies about matters big and small.

There was no bottom to Pence’s fawning. To please Trump, he called Joe Arpaio, a convicted criminal (pardoned by Trump) and thuggish abuser of power, a “tireless champion of the rule of law” and said he was “honored” by Arpaio’s presence at his speech. He claimed, preposterously, that Trump had performed magnificently in the face of the COVID pandemic: “President Trump marshaled the full resources of our federal government from the outset. He directed us to forge a seamless partnership with governors across America in both political parties.”

This IS the only reason, he counted the correct electoral votes. He knew about the plan to exchange and told no one about the conspiracy because he had to hide that he knew and was fine with the plan until he wasn't.

If he was a man of any honor, he would have called every news outlet and told them prior to January 6th, that the whole rotten lot was spreading misinformation to stay in power and planning to stay in power, although they KNOW THEY LOST!

He is nothing but rot himself, and people died either because he failed to act or he was a coward. Either way he has no business being a leader of anything.

All the people so “bravely” coming forward now signed up for this AND stayed. Screw them. The latched on to a vile piece of filth. I don’t care if it was just to control him or because of the allure of a White House position.

I don't see much honor in Pence's actions on Jan. 6th or any other day.

If Pence had any honor he would have blown the whistle as soon as he became aware of Chump's plan to stage the coup. That would have been in late November or early December of 2020. Chump told Pence the entire plan, and Pence could have gone to the press and outed all of it. But he kept it all to himself except for a few phone calls to lawyers.

Why didn't he blow the whistle? I don't know but I can guess he had a lot of craven fear of Chump's evil ways. Also he knew the plan was illegal and unconstitutional, because unlike Chump, Pence has a law degree and he had once been a state governor. But most of all, Pence thought "Hey, maybe this coup might work. If it does work I need to stay on his good side, without actually helping the coup. If it doesn't work, I need to show plausible deniability - that I acted within the scope of the Constitution."

Mike Pence did the very minimum on January 6th He kept his head down, and hid out in the basement of the Capitol. Has anyone asked why he brought his wife to the Capitol that day, even though all this shit was going down? Maybe he thought she would make a good shield, just in case.

Not even for one day. He did his job. You don’t get a gold medal for that. He consulted with people who advised against it. Did you really need Dan Quayle to tell you that would be wrong? His first instinct should have been Fuck No! It wasn’t, if he thought he could have gotten away with it, he would have.
If someone asks you to rob a bank, do you have to ask other people if you should?

I still can't get my head around the fact that our Democracy sat in the hands of Dan Quayle that day.

9. "Honorable"?!? More like he knew this cockamamie coup was illegal as hell and he's still

convinced that God anointed him to turn the US into a Christofascist state which would be harder to manage if he had a felony on his record. But it's all for naught because MAGAts hate him and we, well, we know how we feel about him.

Too bad, so sad, Mike. Have Mother sing you a lullaby and dream of what could have been.

10. He is not a hero for NOT committing a crime.

He is not a hero because he ran for his life and tried to stop the threat' that was survival, not heroics. He was never a hero when he was gazing upon the almighty Trump like he was in love with the President. He is a wimp, a fraud, a traitor, who went along with the big lie until it crashed around him, and he is disliked as much among conservatives as he is among progressives. Pence is a failure and a non-story, with no political future.
