It's incredibly offensive to those of us who aren't white.
Thank you.

(8,329 posts)In fact I am asian. And as an Asian person, I can promise you I have seen little representation of the needs of Asians -and those in our community by him. Calling out his irrelevance is not erasing people of color. In fact it is empowering us to find better representatives.

So, we can't criticize or mock Yang because he is Asian-American?

(16,448 posts)Nobodys erasing anything. Yang is a piece of shit, and a con artist trying to do his bit to make Trump or DeSantis president in 2024 and we got people worried about others being mean to him.
As far as Im concerned Andrew Yang can ESAD.

(59,504 posts)This sounds a weaker "movement" than no labels was a little over a decade ago. (I had to think really hard and use Google to the best of my ability to even get their name as I had forgotten it.) They also at least had the idea of continuing to run in their party, but being part of a bipartisan caucus.
Consider that if Yang and Whitman are the best they can do for high profile leaders, this is going nowhere. Not to mention, what they really want seems to be the Republican party circa 1979 ... or in some cases the Reagan/Bush years. Yang's involvement suggests made a libertarian element too. If Yang is all they have as a Democrat, this is NOT in any ways a Democratic party.

(36,509 posts)and one is through the Democratic Party and the other is through the Republican Party. That's true of most Congressional and State seats as well. No other parties have the infrastructure these two have.

(89,264 posts)It would mean focusing on lower level elections first and building up.
And then maybe they can be competitive sometime in the future .
But the ones that bring up third party usually do so with Presidential election in mind . So of course no third party will be competitive in that situation .

(89,264 posts)it's not much better.
The countries where things are better and more liberal laws are passed is because the population is more liberal so most support those candidates and laws.
this is not true in the US .

(21,151 posts)If that were not the case, I still prefer the two-party system as the voter knows the coalition they are voting for when they vote, not after the election.

(25,610 posts)ALLOWED. Magic words don't need real definitions. Now it's going to be populist progressive conservative centrists? This is getting complicated.
Like Tulsi Gabbard was supposed to be so progressive and nobody really could say why except for something about not liking American empires. Russian empire okay, though.

Just a stray thought. I do not think that is what he is thinking but perhaps it just might help.

(3,557 posts)With all the former republicans and no known democrats and no stated party platform, it looks like a party that could draw mostly from more moderate republicans.
Im not going to get worked up about it just yet.

That gives us a nice edge come election time.
