(1,879 posts)Sadly, I was right.
He's more shrewd than complete idiots like Thomas and Coney Barrett. He's more of an ideologue than Kavanaugh or Roberts. He has zero empathy or "soft spots" compared to Gorsuch. He was Bush's worst legacy, and no one should forget that whenever they try to give Shrub a pass for his part in killing our country.

To be honest, they are not quite rational in their beliefs. They feel rather empowered to discard arbitrary things like the Constitution as they feel they will be judged by God in a different setting based on what they actually do. These people believe in an alternative reality.

Speculation that the 85-year-old might follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Benedict XVI and step down from his post was prompted in early May when he appeared in public using a wheelchair for the first time, after undergoing a minor operation to treat knee pain.
It gained momentum when he made the unusual decision to host a consistory on 27 August to create new cardinals, some of whom will be eligible to elect the pontiffs successor at the next conclave.
Otherwise, he needs to keep his very unwelcomed opinions to himself!

(32,714 posts)Itll be a great election with lots of money spent and awful commercials attacking others. In fact there would be lots of violence. Might even be civil wars over which church will rule. Kind of like the Christian Wars in Europe centuries ago. Better start loading up on guns and bullets now.

There's too damn many of them on the Supreme Court.
I've felt that way for some time.
We are past the incipient stages of Fascism with them.

The man is theocratic, which is the opposite of what America stands for. How the hell did he get on the Supreme Court?
