General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe Republican's perfect storm. Two factors that are going to turn into
a Maelstrom of disaster for Republicans.
First, is the push to end abortions. We all know the obvious flaw in their thinking: Men are going to end up with more children than they can possibly provide for, and those children will probably come from different mothers. I imagine that we will have a generation of children who are going to grow up with resentments that usually come with abandonment. But, that's just a given.
So, here I was thinking that this would be a deterrence to the anti-Roe movement, but no. Republicans are already busy with a work around. It's discussed in the thread linked below. Bottomline, there will be a movement to drop child support. That's bad. But what's worse is that the legislator who is proposing this idea is not even honest about why he's proposing this bill. He's not saying the truth, which is that he knows that some men, and especially Republicans, are misogynist hosers that are delighted about turning into Johnny Appleseeds. Imagine having the freedom to drop their DNA without worrying about the consequences. That's the truth.
Instead, the reason for this law is that child support would encourage more abortions! That's what the ballster actually stated! I still can't believe it!

The second trend that will surely screw us all, is this Republican push to pump up manhood. They are okay with being misogynist monsters, who are arrogant, unthinking, selfish, destructive, devious...just lock every undesirable quality known to man and you can figure out where this is going.
This is why they love autocracy. The true freedom they seek is to be able to make life miserable to everyone around them. They thrive on this. I don't know the difference between sociopaths and the Republican platform, but that line is blurring before our eyes.

White, Christian patriarchy thinks it's superior to everyone else on the planet. Superior to women, to every other race, to every other religion, & yet we're standing on an ecological brink due to mostly white Christian patriarchy policies & actions & they still think they deserve to be in charge.

They'd never do THAT.
Also I think a pretty good argument could be made that abortion bans are going to drive up the amount of same-sex relations happening in this country, esp. with females who are gonna go 'fuck off, men!'
Yes, people are 'born gay' (i.e. only fall in love with their own gender), but that doesn't mean anyone can't choose to have same-sex relations. They most certainly can, and do.
Once the drawbacks to hetero-sex outweigh the advantages (and abortion bans heavily tilt the scale against), many people may very well decide same-sex relations make more sense.
But I guess these assholes have contingencies in place for that in the form of persecution of people who engage in them, perhaps even bringing back the sodomy laws.

(46,756 posts)If the anti-abortion movement encourages young men and women to seek sexual exploration with their own gender?
Justified.
And, yes, doing away with child support would create demands on our social structure that it's not prepare to handle.

And then there's the J6 Committee revelations.
The USSC-Dobbs decision forms the trifecta of GOP's lethal mishaps. They lose in November.

(9,273 posts)?? The opposite is true - NOT getting support would encourage it! Unless hes thinking about slimy men who threaten (or kill) their pregnant girlfriends because they dont want to pay support. So let the guy completely off the hook, thatll solve the problem! Then of course theyll complain endlessly about welfare queens.

Ever since I was born, America was fighting against something. It served to galvanize us as a country. Sometimes the threat was real and made sense. Russia has always been a nemesis. Or the leaders of Russia. Not the Russian people.
Sometimes the real threat was so important to those who were ruling this country that they led us into a senseless red herring war. Like what GWB did after 9/11 to deflect us from his buddies, the Saudis. The Republicans were quite useful in drowning out our side by defaming those of us who were watching with clear eyes.
Since then, they have been trying to throw everything at us to continue the defamation and degradation. Unfortunately, some of the American people would rather listen to them, than to suffer the risk of walking alone in their conservative circles.

Part of the issue of abortion as well is that many (if not majority) of women seeking abortions are already married with children. So there is that.

This would put the kibosh on a whole lotta bullshit with these sperm donors. Why the HELL is it only girls and women who are held accountable for unwanted pregnancies? Men ejaculating causes every one of them.
