COVID came up. The new expression for that is the "Biden Disease". What is it with trump humpers that you have to know what they are within 10 seconds?

(16,129 posts)Living surrounded by them can be difficult...I'm sorry.
Also: how is it "Biden's" disease? He wasn't even president when it fucking happened.

(10,435 posts)I often called it the "tRump Plague". I wish that would have caught on

(23,309 posts)Covid was a virus within a plague.

(890 posts)Possibly that is what he is referring to? Granted, I would word it differently: "Oh, that's that thing that Biden had?". Still, it might be better to allow for the possibility that he wasn't trying to shit on Biden, small as though that possibility is.

(6,732 posts)Intelligent people were always respected and looked up to when we were growing up. These idiots are so afraid of smart people that the only way they know how to react to them is to lash out. It also shows how little they respect themselves. Don't see this changing anytime soon.

(111,359 posts)and if you don't agree with them, you need to be avoided. This is probably a good thing.
Did you ask where they'd heard a stupid thing like that?

ETA I think if I was in that situation and found the guts to do it, I'd just ask if they're QAnon or what

(22,053 posts)I'd have looked them dead in the eye and said, "When he was president, Trump got Covid. That was years before President Biden took office. In fact, just the other day, Trump stated that Covid was the "China Virus." Are you really contradicting Donald Trump?!"
Then I would have politely wished them well in their new home and walked away never to speak with them again.
Life is too short and I don't have time for idiots.
To answer your question, Trump Humpers can't help but expose themselves in every conversation and encounter. You see the Trump flags and bumper stickers and other paraphernalia. These people are extremists and exhibitionists. They cannot help but worship their graven idol. They are pathetic.
You know, I was raised to be polite in the company of other people. Generally, religion, sex and politics were considered subjects best not discussed as those issues tend to create conflicts. Years later, when I was learning the great sport of golf, those lessons served me well. But today, these yahoos ask you who you voted for and which church you belong to before they even know your name!
I believe our society is at a critical impasse and I truly cannot fathom how things will develop.

(18,653 posts)It does no good to call them the idiots they are, so I trick them into thinking we might see eye to eye on Trump.
I say "you have to admit Joe Biden did one good thing". "When Trump was in office he redesigned AF One to look like his own corporate jet". "Biden just nixed that plan and went with the traditional paint job it's had for decades, so now future presidents can travel abroad with their dignity and respect".
They have to think about that for a minute.

(22,168 posts)The only time we ever see him (and glad of it), is when we start a new project and he wants to be nosy. Yeah, they start in on this crap right away. Last time, I listened as long as I could take it, then said--where did you hear that crap?! Fox News. I said something to the effect of what lying idiots they are, and he rode off into the sunset on his mower.
Went to a new chiropractor last week. I really needed to be worked on, so had to bite my tongue like crazy at the signs this guy had posted all over his office, including on the door, denigrating Biden and Dems. This is a small town, and quite red, but there are a few Dems around. Why in the world, would you air your craziness in public?
Turbineguy
(37,372 posts)there were 4 Democratic families and 184 Republican. Now it's over 60% Democratic. Everybody is nice and usually very polite. There are very little politics. There were never any Trump signs in yards. There's really no advantage to getting in somebody's face. There are a lot of Academics and Professionals in the neighborhood. People want to live in a nice house and get along for the most part.
So I didn't come back with any snappy one-liners or anything, I just did not respond positively to his dig.

(32,095 posts)It sucks having neighbors like that. If the subject of COVID comes up again, please remind them that it came here---and took hold under Trump's watch. "Trump's Disease" is FAR more accurate a name for it.
