(65,213 posts)But I recall reading it's 54 days per year because that's 15% & the desire was to make 85% of the sentence a minimum.
But, I come up with 62 added months, or around 5 years, too.
So, we agree but differ on one detail.

(65,213 posts)In federal court you will have to serve 85% of your sentence if convicted of federal charges. Thus, if you are sentenced to 10 years in prison, you will actually serve 8.5 years in prison. However, for most state felony convictions, you will only serve 50% of your actual sentence.

18 U.S.C. 922(g) is the federal law that prohibits anyone ever convicted of any felony to ever possess any firearm either inside or outside of his home. The federal punishment for firearm possession by a felon is up to 10 years in prison.
No, I'm not a lawyer, and I realize there are exceptions through application, but usually this is the case.
