Kansas is a very bad sign for them.

(7,820 posts)And we need to fight that as hard as we possibly can. But the fact that they lost by a huge amount in Kansas? There may actually be margins too big for them to suppress or steal their way to a victory. It may be misplaced, but this is the first time in a while Ive felt hopeful. That they might actually have gone too far and face a real backlash.

Among Kansans who registered to vote on or after June 24th (when the Dobbs decision was announced), Democrats have an 8 pt advantage. Compare that to the GOP's overall advantage of 19 pts among all registered voters in Kansas. The landscape changed on June 24th.

(68,643 posts)Governors, House members, and Senators as well. We had been losing presidential races for a while but in Georgia, there were still more than a few Democrats. 2002 changed that. Max Cleland lost. And Roy Barnes -once a popular - governor lost. As well when people vote in numbers...gerrymanders fail. Consider 2002 was one of two elections where the President's party won the midterm...the other one was 1934. I think we may be looking at the President's party winning a midterm for the third time...consider that we are talking three times in 90 years! This may be a BFD.

(58,698 posts)If they don't include a "repubs want to ban abortions and take your birth control" plank in their platform it will be political incompetence.
In many places, that should be top of the list and be the lead in their ads.
Dems protect women's rights and health.

(47,324 posts)The people can pressure congress to pass certain laws, but the SC can over turn them.
So yes this is a very good sign. But will the SC care?

(2,959 posts)The USSC is to interpret laws, not to decide which laws are popular.

(15,552 posts)I just hope Dems across the country don't get complacent and stay home in November. I think it's been said a thousand times on DU and statistics bear this out. When Dems GOTV we win and we win big!
Take a breather but get back in the fight because you just know the GOP is going to step up the dirty ads/lies/criminality in order to win.
